Currently, 40% of black professional engineers have attended or graduated from historically black colleges and universities. (HBCUs) So, why aren't more tech companies recruiting from this large source of talent. This project was created by Hadiyah Mujhid, who is an alumni of an HBCU and proud supporter. Hadiyah is also an active member of the startup community in San Francisco, where many startups site that it is difficult to find talented and diverse engineers. This project is a small layer is helping to address that issue.
HBCURecruit is a working prototype. The application will currently take a job posting and post to 105 historically black colleges and universities' job boards used by their students and alumni. HBCURecruit is currently looking for pilot companies and schools to help streamline the current process.
